Green Goddess Smoothie

First let me say this smoothie does not taste "healthy," "green," or anything like spinach. I've had some green juices before that reminded me of the way cut grass smells, not my idea of breakfast - this is not one of those drinks.  Ok, now that's out of the way let me say that this smoothie has made my morning so much better!  This tastes delicious, keeps me full all morning, and is full of vitamins and protein! Up until about a month ago I was having a protein bar and a banana for breakfast everyday then I discovered this baby and now my friends and I are hooked.

If you're looking to change to your morning routine give it a try! It's low fat, low sugar, and perfect for a meal or snack. This keeps me from snacking at my desk and gives me so much more energy at work.  It's fast, easy, and the ingredients are cheap.  Give it a try, it's the perfect way to cool down on hot summer mornings!

Recipe after the jump, I can't say enough good things about my Green Goddess Smoothie!!!  I repeat, it doesn't taste healthy!

Green Goddess Smothie:
1 banana cut and frozen
3/4 cup non-fat, unsweatened Greek yogurt
3/4 cup almond milk (or regular milk)
1 tbs natural peanut butter
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbs honey or two Splenda packets
2-3 cups fresh spinach

For a snack substitute 1/2 cup Greek yogurt and 1/2 cup almond milk.

Cut banana and freeze the night before.  I normally get enough bananas for the week and freeze them on Sunday night so I'm ready to go all week.

Put one frozen and cut banana in the blender then add all other ingredients.  I fill the rest of the space in the blender with Spinach, about 2-3 cups.  For extra vitamins and energy pack the spinach down and fit even more of that green goodness in there!  Blend for 4-5 five minutes and enjoy!

This is also great with frozen summer berries, pineapple, or mango added in with the banana!

  1. Green smoothies are the best! I still don't understand how anything with that much spinach can taste so good, but I'll take it!
