"Hold On, I'll Put Mr. Allen On The Phone."

"And the phone rings and a voice on the other end says 'How would you like to be this years vodka man?', and I say 'No. I'm an artist, I do not do commercials. I don't pander. I don't drink vodka and if I did, I would not drink your product.' He said 'Too bad. It pays $50,000 dollars.' and I said 'Hold on, I'll put Mr. Allen on the phone.'"

Ok, so I came across these working on the post below. I have always loved this Woody Allen stand up about vodka but had no idea they ran a campaign that was Moscow Mule inspired. In. Love. There are few people who can pull off awkward yet adorable like Woody Allen and now I find him with a drink I love. This just couldn’t make me any happier!

Moscow Mule

Ready for the perfect summer drink? I give you the Moscow Mule. Vodka, ginger beer, and a splash of lime served in a copper cup, soooo good! Not too sweet, refreshing, and a little spice from the ginger.

The mule was actually created in Manhattan in 1941 but found its popularity on the West Coast with the Hollywood crowd a year later. I won’t give you the whole history of the Moscow Mule, but it is divine! You can find the copper mugs online to make your own or if you’re in the LA area the bar at Wilshire on Wilshire still serves them authentically. I know what I’m doing after work this week …

Beautiful, Bold, Orange

There’s nothing like a bold touch of color to spice up your living space and your mood. Watching Mac paint a credenza this weekend I thought about how quickly a coat of paint can completely change a piece of furniture and the room. Check out these great ideas, painting a basic dresser, cantaloupe sugar soap, and a classic mid century sofa. I love all these ways to brighten up a place!

How to Rock Leopard like a Bombshell

I have recently been anticipating and loving the leopard trend that’s going on right now and those of you who know me know I’ve always been a solids kind of girl.  Mom just gave me a leopard top and my first thought was “I don’t know if I can pull this off, but Jane Russell sure could.”  So I just decided to rock it like a 50’s starlet and it was so fun!
Last nite Mac and I watched Bell, Book and Candle in which Kim Novak is just dripping in leopard, love.  So, I took my inspiration from some of Hollywood’s greatest and found a few items necessary to live life like a Hollywood bombshell.  Seems like it’s all in the balance, a great leopard statement piece and classic solids to really show it of!
PS  you must try these so comfortable and sexy

Honey Biscotti with Candied Ginger, Dark Chocolate, and Cranberries

About a month ago I was craving biscotti and decided to make them instead of running across the street to Starbucks. I substituted honey for half of the sugar, added candied ginger, dark chocolate, dried cranberries, and par baked them.

Par baking is the solution to being a single girl living in a studio, or living with a who guy isn’t really into gourmet Italian inspired cookies. I ended up with about 30 cookies so I baked them for 10 minutes less then I should have, froze half, and finished baking the rest. This morning I pulled a few from the freezer, popped them in the oven for 15 minutes and they are just as delicious as they were a month ago. Biscotti and a cup of strong coffee, perfect way to start my Friday morning!

Unexpected Rainy Day!

This weekend Mac brought home some great mid century modern fire tools just in time for our unexpected rain today. These are the images that filled my head all day today at work, and I’m sure will tomorrow as well. Irish coffee, cozy hooded fireplace, Eames lounge, and a warm blanket. Give me a book and I could stay in one place all day!

Mid Century Modern Office

At happy hour last week my friend Jessica and I were already lamenting the lack of Mad Men this coming summer, no sexual tension in the gorgeous mid century modern office … whatever will we do?! Coincidentally, I had an email from Crest waiting for me in my inbox that day. I don’t know about you but I’d be much more excited about today’s conference if the room looked like this. Can’t beat the clean lines and beautiful wood grain, instantly relaxing.

Happy Tuesday!

All those in favor of doing this instead of going to work today say "aye!" … nothing like heading to work on a Tuesday morning to make you realize how important it is to have fun. Take a minute away from your desk today and remember what it was like to be eight years old getting ready for summer vacation. Have a wonderful day, embrace your inner child and have fun!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there and to our adopted mothers!  Mac and I have both been fortunate enough to be surrounded by a caring group of women welcoming us into their lives and their hearts.  While today Mac and I  reflect with loving memories of a very special woman, I’d also like to say a big thank you for all the love and encouragement through the years to those women who raised us and to our “new mothers” who continue to welcome us into their lives.
One of my favorite pictures below, Mac and my mother dancing (beer in hand).

Join the Congregation

Small confession, I have become obsessed with gastropubs and
I think it’s spreading to Mac. Lots of beers on tap, unique spins on comfort food, cozy atmospheres, I love it. So when my friend Kelsey came into town this weekend we had to meet up at
Congregation Ale House in Long Beach. Nothing like drinking beer in a pub inspired by a Catholic church. If you’re ever around check it out, and let me know what beers you tried.
P.S. How cool is their tap handle display?
