Well, this weekend I finally took the time to make my apple pie...and it was so happy tasting! I decided to spice it up a little bit by making a white cheddar crust similar to this recipe and it was divine. At first as the crust was browning you could smell the cheesy buttery goodness then the cinnamon apple smell came in, let me tell you there was a happy little parting going on in that oven.
I soaked my apples in cinnamon and whiskey over night, which tasted great but made them a little softer then I wanted. All in all, despite the mess I made making it, it was time well spent. Sorry there aren't any "during" pictures but my hands were way to floury to be near the camera.
Love the darker flecks that the cheese gave it.

It's Autumn Baby!
Ahhhhh, I can't believe it's here. Happy first day of autumn!!! There are few things I love and adore more than autumn. The nostalgia, crisp leaves, smell of fire places in the air ... oh and all things pumpkin! I apologize for the next few months but there will be many autumn posts to come.
This quote from Something Wicked This Way Comes sums me up.
"For these beings, fall is ever the normal season, the only weather, there be no choice beyond...such are the autumn people."
-Ray Bradbury
P.S. here is where I found this great print.

Happy September!
"Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address."
-You've Got Mail
This quote just makes me happy and is so true, if I had the means I would send you all bouquets of newly sharpened pencils. It's the first day of September and I've already been getting that Autumn feel. Autumn is by far my favorite season, where Mac's is summer. It's this time of year when Mac starts saying "not yet" every time I mention the change in the air. He may not want summer to end but I can't wait to welcome Fall. Have a wonderful first day of September!
P.S. Mac and I are total nerds and will send each other quotes from this movie via text throughout day.

August Melting Into September
Like myself, I know a lot of you are anticipating autumn and the changing seasons. As the days slowly get shorter and a little crisper I am drawn to these warm carmel colors, don't you just love that tie?
I've been thinking of how important these last summer days were when I was about seven years old. Visiting my dad at work, sitting by his drafting table with a bevy of colorful markers and pencils at my disposal, thinking of how lucky I was not to be at school. Memories I find out that Mac has as well, his father was an architect and mine a graphic designer. Have a lovely day and soak in the last of summer!
